Tennessee Hotel Guest Wakes Up to Extreme Case of Assault and Burglary by Hotel Night Manager, Palmdale Hotel Premises Liability Claims Explained

When a person checks into a hotel in Palmdale, they often are excited to get away from home for the day, relax, rejuvenate, and perhaps pamper themselves a little before their business meeting or other event on plan. Indeed, even when a hotel guest simply needs a room for the night and stays at a less-than-four-star establishment, they at least believe that the hotel owner or hotel property owner will keep them safe and sound from the harms and intrusions of the outside world. But what happens when a threat to a hotel guest’s safety and security comes from within the walls of the hotel itself? One unsuspecting and unfortunate Tennessee guest found out when he was faced with a nightmare scenario when staying at a Hilton hotel in Nashville.

According to reports, the disturbing hotel assault happened before dawn on March 30, 2023. A male hotel guest at the Nashville Hilton Hotel, located in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue South in Nashville, woke up at around 5:00 a.m. to a man he recognized as the hotel’s night manager sucking on his toes. The hotel guest reportedly told police that he recognized the night manager, who was identified as 52-year-old David Patrick Neal, who he said had visited his room with another hotel employee the day prior to assist him with some problems he was having with the television in his hotel room. The victim-guest told authorities that when he saw Neal in his room, he screamed, and then reported the toe-sucking-assault and break-in to the hotel’s security team and police. Neal, on the other hand, admitted that he did enter the victim-guest’s hotel room with a cloned key, but only because he claimed that he could smell smoke coming from the inside of the room. No other guests reported smelling smoke, and Neal did not notify anyone else on the hotel staff about the smoke.

As for the guest-victim, he said of the disturbing hotel assault, “All my life you just have that sense of security, and the sense of peace, right? It’s not like you’re camping and you have to kind of keep one eye open. You have that security that’s yours, and when you close your eyes, you feel like you’re safe and you’re protected and it was a complete violation…I was just so, so shocked. It was, ‘Who are you? Why are you in my room?’ It was almost like a dream, a sort of nightmare. It just didn’t make sense. Why is this person touching me?”
